13.0 Finishing, Folding, Gluing & Carton Styles

This series covers everything from an overview of folder gluers to the various carton styles, ensuring that learners understand the machinery and equipment used in this phase of production. It is ideal for packaging engineers, production managers, and machine operators involved in folding and gluing operations. Upon completing this series, learners will be able to identify and describe the following:

1. The folder gluer process, including the steps of feeding, pre-break, final fold, and compression.

2. The factors that influence the quality of glue bonds in the folder gluer process, including the type of glue, substrate, compression section length, and carton stream thickness.

3. How different carton styles, such as straight line, lock-bottom, and partition cartons, affect the folding and gluing processes on the folder gluer and the specific adjustments required for each style.
